SUNY Niagra

SUNY Niagara, a public community college in Sanborn, New York, has served students since 1962 and offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs. It has put forward two initiatives: SUNY Reconnect, a free associate degree pathway for working adults, reported against affordability, and a Human-First AI Literacy program for faculty and staff, reported against academic excellence. Each comes with the evidence the college uses to judge it.

Affordability

For many working adults, cost is what stands between them and a degree. Through SUNY Reconnect, SUNY Niagara removes that barrier for New Yorkers aged 25 to 55 who do not yet hold a college degree. Tuition, fees, books, and supplies are covered after other financial aid is applied, across 16 high-demand associate degree programs. Flexible scheduling and online options let students keep working while they study. The initiative below is what the college put forward against this commitment.

The programs below are the ones the institution put forward against this commitment, with the outcomes it reports against each.

Academic Excellence

Strong teaching now includes knowing when and how to use AI well. SUNY Niagara started with evidence: an institution-wide AI Capacity Building Assessment, completed with humanskills.ai, that drew 116 responses. The college used the findings to build a Common AI Syllabus Policy, an AI Guiding Framework, and a Human-First AI Literacy cohort for faculty and staff. The initiative below is what the college put forward against this commitment.
