Affordability
NOVA’s affordability commitment focuses on the total cost of completing a degree. Through ADVANCE, NOVA and George Mason University align courses with students’ selected majors and provide personalized coaching across both institutions. Students begin with NOVA’s lower tuition rates, complete an associate degree and follow a planned route to a bachelor’s degree. This approach is designed to reduce lost credits, unnecessary coursework and delays that can increase costs and borrowing. The State Council on Higher Education for Virginia’s (SCHEV) 2025–26 Tuition and Fees Report highlights the value of this approach: completing an associate degree before transfer can save an average of $21,968 on the cost of a bachelor’s degree in Virginia.
